Cyprus GreenLineScapes Laboratory
Director Oct 2010 – Present
Director and Founder of a Research and Design Laboratory in Cyprus proposing Future Visions for the Landscapes of the Green Line Buffer Zone as a Laboratory for Biocultural Planning and as a catalyst for Sustainable Peace. Founded in collaboration with the NGO Friends of Nature Cyprus (FoN) a bi-communal NGO working on questions of Nature Preservation and Sustainable Planning.

DMZ International Research Institute DMZ IRI

A Research and Implementation Institute for the establishment of the DMZ As a Biological and Ecological Landscape of Peace. The Institute for Environmental Diplomacy and Security (IEDS) is a transdisciplinary research center dedicated to both the study and practice of techniques that resolve environmental conflicts, and to using ecological processes as tools of peace-building.

Zones of Peace. Atlas of Ecological Cooperation

The Atlas of Ecological Cooperation is directed by Anna Grichting in collaboration with Saleem Ali (University of Vermont) It is intended as an instrument for Peace Building in areas of conflict. A map-based resource on conflicts, it proposes environmentally based solutions, particularly, in border areas of conflict zones. A tool with worldwide application, the Atlas aims to present a comprehensive vision of existing and ongoing efforts of peace building based on ecological cooperation and the preservation of biodiversity and to provide peace-builders critical information to engage these principles in the cause of building trust and peace between parties in conflict.

The Atlas of Ecological The M-NEX Research Project is funded by the Belmont Forum and Qatar National Resesarch Fund. The M-NEX - Moveable NEXUS - looks at Design-led urban food, water and energy management innovation in new boundary conditions of change. It is an international research consortium including KEIO University Japan, Qatar University, Queens University Belfast, Delft University of Technology, University of Michigan and University of Technology Sydney. Based around urban design and practice, the research sees urban agriculture as a key facilitator of the Nexus, needing water and energy to become productive. This project will develop innovative and practical design solutions through stakeholder-engaged living labs in six different bioregions, Belfast, Doha, Detroit, Tokyo-Yokohama, Amsterdam, and Sydney. Each group will aim to translate current FEW-nexus research into real projects.
